You can stick a pocket in anything that has a side seam! Even if it's already a garment or sewn together. Keep in mind the pocket opening needs to fit your hand.

DIY Elastic Repair and Adding Sleeves - mending and altering thrift store finds
I love how frothy this dress was when I found it at the thrift store, but the elastic was dead and I like having sleeves more than sleeveless dresses. Lucky for me the elastic was super easy to change and I had a sleeve pattern that I liked and knew might work.
Changing the sleeves is a little advanced! Tackle it if you feel confident OR are not going to be heartbroken if it doesn't work.

DIY Bra Fix - front closure or racerback bra
Front closures on bras are easy to fix! Both my friend and I had bras that were perfectly fine, but the closure was broken. So I volunteered to fix it but I didn't know what I was getting into. It turned out great! And I highly recommend this fix.
Special notes: If you look for swimsuit closures you may have better luck! My bra closure is 1" wide, which is not a normal bra size, so I went with a swimsuit closure.

DIY Elastic Smocking - using elastic thread
Using elastic thread is a great way to make elastic smocking or shearing. And the dress I made used less than 1 yard of fabric and went together super fast.
For a 3T dress, these are the measurements I used:
for the dress body - W: 40" L: 26.5"
for the ties - cut 4 pieces 5"x4"
I needed to take in the back seam more, so my seam allowance was 1" at the center back.
Hem at the top was 1"
Hem at the bottom was 1.5"
The ties have 1/4" seam allowance.

DIY Vegan Sugar Cookies - with natural food coloring
I made vegan sugar cookies for the holiday!
Thank you to Minimalist Baker for the recipe: https://minimalistbaker.com/1-bowl-vegan-sugar-cookies/
The only change I made was to add 2 teaspoons of Cream of Tartar, I think only 1 teaspoon was necessary.
For the frosting
2 cups powder sugar
2 tablespoons milk of choice, plus more as needed
Add powder sugar to the bowl and the milk, mix. Add more milk 2 tablespoons at a time until the mixture runs off the spoon slowly.
Big thank you to @GoingZeroWaste for showing me how to make natural icing! The icing colors are turmeric for yellow, beets for pink, and spirulina for green. Check it out here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BrGEWDSHZYl/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=bp4szxwnn2h9

Make your costume even more authentic and creepy with tea staining. This method works on any fabric type and will make your costume look dirty. Brew a strong black tea and get a spray bottle and bowl to get started.
